Head of the EU Presidency Logistics Team

Régine VANDRIESSCHE

The practical aspects of the organization of the ASEM 8 Summit are the responsibility of Mrs. Régine Vandriessche, Director of the EU Presidency Logistics Team.

Mrs. Vandriessche, who has a Degree in Classical Languages and History (both from the Catholic University of Leuven) joined the Belgian diplomatic service in 1989.

During the first part of her diplomatic career, Mrs. Vandriessche held assignments to the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the European Union and to the Embassies of Belgium in Tokyo and in Kinshasa.

Back in Brussels, she became involved in the preparation and running of the Belgian EU Presidency in 2001. Then, in sequence, she served as Roving Ambassador for Asylum and Migration, as Diplomatic Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, and, again in the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the European Union, as Head of the External Relations Unit, with a specific emphasis on Asia.

Mrs. Vandriessche was appointed Head of the EU Presidency Logistics Team in July 2008.
